The DataCities Uganda Conference 2026 is our flagship annual gathering — a full-day event bringing together city leaders, policymakers, researchers, innovators, and development partners to take stock of where Uganda's cities are on their data journey, share what is working, and identify what needs to change.
Uganda's cities are growing fast. With that
growth comes pressure — to deliver services, collect revenue,
manage waste, and respond to the needs of residents who can no
longer wait for decisions made on estimates and guesswork.
The cities that will thrive are the ones that learn to use data well.
The DataCities Uganda Conference 2026 is where that conversation happens.
On 5th November, city leaders, national government representatives,
urban practitioners, and development partners will come together in
Kampala for a one-day national conference under the theme
Strengthening City Data Systems for Inclusive Urban Development.
The day draws directly from two years of ground-level work in Jinja
and Fort Portal — piloting practical approaches to tourism data,
revenue collection, waste management, and service delivery.
The lessons learned, the tools built, and the governance frameworks tested
will all be on the table. This is not a conference about what could be done in theory.
It is about what is already being done, what is working, and how it scales.
If you work in or alongside Uganda's cities — in government,
development, research, or technology — this is the room to be in.
Whether you are a city official managing scarce resources, a researcher studying urban Africa, a technologist building tools for government, or a development partner looking to invest in impactful work, this conference is for you.
The full programme will be published closer to the date. The day will include:
