As part of the DataCities consortium comprising Sunbird AI, UN Global Pulse, and ToroDev, we held a workshop with the Technical Planning Committee of Fort Portal on 5 March 2026 to present a GIS-powered property revenue tool designed to help the city identify and address property revenue gaps.
The tool maps properties spatially, cross-references them against existing revenue records, and highlights areas where collections may be falling short. By combining Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with city revenue data, the platform supports more targeted and evidence-based revenue mobilisation efforts.
For Fort Portal City, the system provides data-driven insights that can strengthen planning, improve revenue administration, and support more informed urban governance decisions.
The initiative is also active in Jinja, where we are working with city authorities to strengthen evidence-based urban governance through practical digital tools and data systems.
